Questions and Answers

Useful information for your holidays at Hotel Eden

From A like Arrival to Z like Zillertal Aktiv Card: here we have collected useful information and answers to questions we receive often. Of course we are also here for you personally. Please feel free to contact us.

Are the Zillertal and Tuxertal the same thing?

Yes. And no. Strictly speaking, Tuxertal is a side valley of Zillertal. Tuxertal branches off Zillertal in the town of Mayrhofen. However: we belong together.

At what altitude is Hotel Eden located? What kind of clothing should I pack?

Our hotel is at 1,360 metres a.s.l. This means that at Easter or in October it can snow a bit at night. Thanks to our altitude, in summer we can enjoy the refreshingly cool nights. Please remember to pack enough sunscreen with a sufficient protection factor. The sun is especially strong in the mountains.

Can I arrive without a car?

Of course. Hotel Eden is wonderfully connected with the public transport system. Read more about how to get here. Also after you arrive, you can get around without your own car. The bus stop is located directly at our front door.

I don't have my own mountain equipment - what can I do?

We can lend you the following at the hotel: hiking rucksack, hiking sticks, snowshoes, spikes for winter hiking boots. Nearby there is also a speciality store that can give you good advise.

As a beginner can I also participate in the guided hikes?

Of course! When we go on group hikes, we make sure that everyone can keep up.

Is there really a 100% guarantee of snow?

Yes! The Tux Glacier is Austria’s only all-year ski area. For information about the opening of the facilities and slopes, click here.

Do I need snow chains in winter?

The Tux state road from Mayrhofen to Hintertux is in good conditions for driving all year long. In snowy or icy road conditions, chains are required. We will be happy to tell you on the phone about the road conditions. Click here for the webcams for the Tux state road.
